Finnish organisation KRITS organises four camps annually, intended for adults impacted by familial imprisonment as well as for children with a parent in prison. Imprisoned parents are given a pass to attend the camp, which aims to provide families the possibility to spend time together and to support the child-parent relationship. Children and adults alike participate in peer support groups organised as part of the camp. Peer and professional support provides tools to cope with a family member’s imprisonment. Moreover, during the camp, the emphasis is put on fostering rehabilitation to prevent intergenerational criminal behaviours. KRITS’s family camp won the National Crime Prevention Award in 2020.
