Exodus Netherlands organized the day of action, titled `I am also punished` to bring the issues of children of prisoners to the attention of policy makers, politicians and the media. Dutch MEP Marith Rebel agreed to take the issue of children of prisoners forward. She recognized that it was a problem in the general practice of prisons where, in the municipalities when a parent is imprisoned, they don’t know where to go or who to turn to. Children’s Ombudsperson of the Netherlands also underscored the importance of the topic of children of prisoners and pledged to adopt Bambinisenzasbarre’s Memorandum of Understanding to the Dutch context to better serve children of prisoners in the Netherlands.
